Student course-unit modification via missing role check
Published Feb 3, 2026 · Updated Feb 3, 2026
Improper access control in Open eClass before 4.2 allows remote authenticated users with student roles to modify existing course units. The /modules/units/insert.php endpoint processes content-insertion requests without verifying that the authenticated user's role permits the action. A student account and an existing course unit are sufficient to add unauthorized material, altering stored course content and structure.
