Subscriber-triggered administrator login disruption via unchecked username change
Published Jan 22, 2026 · Updated Jan 22, 2026
Missing authorization in WPMasterToolKit 2.14.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to rename administrator accounts. The change_admin_name() AJAX handler verifies a nonce but performs no capability check before directly updating the target administrator's user_login value. Any authenticated Subscriber who obtains the action nonce can change an administrator's login name, disrupting dashboard access without reading data or interrupting the site.
