Code execution via unsafe checkpoint deserialization

Deserialization in NVIDIA Megatron-LM before 0.15.3 allows context-dependent attackers to execute code through a malicious checkpoint file. Checkpoint loading permits unsafe PyTorch object deserialization rather than restricting serialized content to tensor weights. Execution requires a user to load the file, after which injected code runs with that user's privileges and can read or alter accessible data.
