User impersonation via stale SSH session identity
Published Jan 22, 2026 · Updated Jan 22, 2026
Authentication bypass in Charmbracelet Soft Serve 0.11.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to impersonate any user over SSH. PublicKeyHandler stores the user resolved from an offered key in session context, while AuthenticationMiddleware fails to replace that identity after the offer fails. Exploitation requires the victim's public key and an attacker-controlled valid key; impersonating an administrator grants full administrative access.
