CVE-2026-24027Network attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded authoritative reply traffic

Published Feb 9, 2026 · Updated Feb 9, 2026

Resource-consumption flaw in PowerDNS Recursor allows remote attackers to interrupt service through queries to a crafted zone. The synchronous resolver accepts authoritative reply traffic without a per-client-query byte ceiling; exploitation requires control of the published zone and a query routed to it. Affected releases are 5.1.0 through 5.1.9, 5.2.0 through 5.2.7, and 5.3.0 through 5.3.4; no system compromise is reported.
