CVE-2026-23992Network attack vector

Metadata integrity bypass via unchecked signature threshold

Published Jan 22, 2026 · Updated Jan 22, 2026

Signature verification failure in The Update Framework go-tuf 2.0.0 through 2.3.0 allows attackers to modify TUF metadata via a repository. Metadata.VerifyDelegate compares the valid-signature count with an unvalidated role threshold, so zero or negative values let the check pass without any valid signature. Exploitation requires a compromised or misconfigured TUF repository and permits unauthorized metadata modification at rest or in transit.
