CVE-2026-23953Public exploitHinoki check available

Host root command execution via newline injection

Published Jan 22, 2026 · Updated Jan 22, 2026

Newline injection in Incus 6.0.5 and earlier and 6.1.0 through 6.20.0 allows attackers with launch rights to execute host commands. The environment.* config path accepts line breaks and writes them unchanged into generated lxc.conf entries, enabling injected lxc.hook.pre-start directives. Local incus-group members or remote authenticated users with restricted TLS, OpenFGA, or scriptlet authorization gain root command execution when the container starts.
