Arbitrary file writes via scoped bin traversal
Published Jan 26, 2026 · Updated Jan 26, 2026
Path traversal in pnpm before 10.28.1 allows remote attackers to write files outside node_modules/.bin through a malicious npm package. The package-bins filter accepts bin names beginning with @, then scope normalization preserves ../ segments that link-bins passes to path.join. Exploitation requires a user or CI job to install the package and permits overwriting files within that process's filesystem permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
