Arbitrary file write via binary extraction traversal
Published Jan 26, 2026 · Updated Jan 26, 2026
Path traversal in pnpm before 10.28.1 allows remote attackers to write files outside the extraction directory via malicious binary assets. AdmZip extractAllTo accepts ZIP entries with parent or absolute paths, while BinaryResolution.prefix is joined to targetDir without validation. Exploitation requires a user or CI pipeline to install a package with binary assets; the resulting writes can replace configuration or scripts and enable code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
