Local system crash via invalid FsContext pointer
Published Jan 22, 2026 · Updated Jan 22, 2026
Access of an uninitialized pointer in VB-Audio virtual audio drivers allows local users to crash affected Windows systems. The IRP_MJ_CREATE handler stores the non-pointer value 123 in FILE_OBJECT->FsContext for a handle opened with attribute 0x800, then forwards an unsupported IOCTL to ks.sys, which dereferences it. A local unprivileged user can trigger a system-wide BSoD on Windows installations of Voicemeeter Standard 1.1.1.9 and earlier, Banana 2.1.1.9 and earlier, Potato 3.1.1.9 and earlier, Matrix 1.0.2.2 and earlier, or Matrix Coconut 2.0.2.2 and earlier.
