Authenticated root command execution via shell ps
Published Mar 17, 2026 · Updated Mar 17, 2026
OS command injection in Perle IOLAN STS and SCS firmware before 6.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The restricted shell's ps command passes unsanitized arguments containing shell metacharacters to a root-level sh -c invocation. Access requires a valid device login over Telnet or SSH, after which injected commands can fully control the underlying operating system.
