Administrator code execution via installer DLL preloading
Published Jan 21, 2026 · Updated Jan 21, 2026
Uncontrolled DLL search in D-Link D-View 8 2.0.1.107 and earlier allows local users to execute code as administrator via the installer. The elevated installer loads version.dll from its execution directory without constraining the search path, causing an attacker-supplied DLL beside the legitimate installer to load. Execution requires a victim to launch the installer and approve its UAC prompt; successful exploitation grants administrator-level code execution and control of the Windows host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
