Unauthenticated file access and NTLMv2 coercion via Remoting
Published Apr 23, 2026 · Updated Apr 23, 2026
Missing authentication in Kofax Capture 6.0.0.0 allows remote attackers to read or write server files through .NET Remoting. The Ascent Capture Service exposes port 2424 and the default ACService endpoint without authentication, letting crafted unmarshalling data instantiate System.Net.WebClient remotely. Any network host that reaches the channel can access files with service-account rights or force NTLMv2 authentication to an attacker-controlled SMB host; code execution and lateral movement depend on those rights and network controls.
