Unauthenticated vendor-account creation via unchecked role parameter
Published Mar 21, 2026 · Updated Mar 21, 2026
Privilege escalation in Appcheap App Builder 5.5.10 and earlier allows remote attackers to create vendor-level WordPress accounts. AuthTrails.php's verify_role() accepts the attacker-controlled wcfm_vendor role and passes it to wp_insert_user() without WCFM Marketplace approval. Sites are exposed only when registration and WCFM Marketplace are active; successful requests grant product, order, and store-management access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
