Out-of-bounds writes in Siemens Simcenter Femap and Nastran before V2512 allow attackers to execute code through a crafted XDB file. The applications write past an allocated buffer while parsing attacker-controlled XDB data; Siemens has not disclosed the parser locus or malformed field. Execution requires a user to open the file, and successful exploitation runs code in the current process; failed attempts can crash the application.
