OAuth credential disclosure via missing endpoint authorization

Published Jan 14, 2026 · Updated Jan 14, 2026

Missing authorization in Rocket.Chat before 6.12.0 allows remote authenticated users to disclose OAuth application credentials via its REST API. The oauth-apps.get handler in apps/meteor/app/api/server/v1/oauthapps.ts requires authentication but omits a role or permission check before returning the requested app record. Any regular user who knows an app ID can obtain its client_id and client_secret, exposing configured third-party integrations without modifying data.
