CVE-2026-23434

Storage corruption and crash via NAND lock race

Published Apr 3, 2026 · Updated Apr 3, 2026

Race condition in Linux Kernel rawnand code allows local users to corrupt NAND storage or crash the system through MTD lock ioctls. The nand_lock() and nand_unlock() paths invoke lock_area or unlock_area without holding the NAND device lock, allowing SET_FEATURES commands to interleave with erase or write work. Exploitation requires local write access to an affected MTD character device and a multi-command SET_FEATURES controller while UBI or UBIFS performs concurrent operations.
