CVE-2026-23387

Kernel memory corruption via double firmware-node release

Published Mar 25, 2026 · Updated Mar 25, 2026

Double free in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to corrupt kernel memory in the CS42L43 pin-control driver. In cs42l43_pin_probe(), a failed devm_add_action_or_reset() call already releases the child firmware-node reference, but the error path calls fwnode_handle_put() on it again. Reaching the error path requires CAP_SYS_ADMIN in the initial user namespace to rebind the driver through sysfs and a memory allocation failure that cannot be directly triggered.
