CVE-2026-2336Network attack vector

Administrative cookie forgery via recoverable shared secret

Published Apr 16, 2026 · Updated Apr 16, 2026

Privilege escalation in Microchip IStaX before 2026.03 allows remote authenticated users to forge administrative session cookies. The webstax_auth design lets a user recover the shared per-device cookie secret from that user's own low-privilege session cookie and reuse it to sign an administrative cookie. A valid low-privilege account and network access to the management interface are required; forged cookies grant administrative control over the switch.
