Host crash via unchecked USB endpoints
Published Mar 25, 2026 · Updated Mar 25, 2026
Improper USB endpoint validation in the Linux Kernel kaweth driver allows physically proximate attackers to crash the host. The kaweth_probe function binds without confirming the expected bulk-IN, bulk-OUT, and interrupt-IN endpoints, then later accesses absent endpoints. Exploitation requires attaching a malformed USB device that matches the driver, and the resulting kernel failure interrupts the entire host.
