CVE-2026-23241

Audit evasion via omitted xattr syscalls

Published Mar 17, 2026 · Updated Mar 17, 2026

Audit bypass in Linux Kernel 6.13 through 6.18.15 and 6.19 through 6.19.5 allows local users to evade file-read rules. The audit read-class table in include/asm-generic/audit_read.h omits getxattrat and listxattrat, so those calls do not match read-watch permissions. Exploitation requires local syscall access and an applicable audit watch; extended-attribute reads then escape the expected audit record.
