Local heap disclosure via masked EFI read errors
Published Feb 14, 2026 · Updated Feb 14, 2026
Information disclosure in Linux Kernel allows local users to read uninitialized heap memory through an efivarfs file read. efivar_entry_get() reports success after __efivar_entry_get() fails, so efivarfs_file_read() copies an uninitialized heap buffer to userspace. The path requires an EFI firmware get_variable error during a local read; unprivileged users cannot induce or influence that condition.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
