CVE-2026-23146

Local crash via premature HCI UART initialization

Published Feb 14, 2026 · Updated Feb 14, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux Kernel Bluetooth HCI UART driver allows local users to crash affected systems through a TTY wakeup race. hci_uart_set_proto sets HCI_UART_PROTO_INIT before proto->open initializes hu->priv, allowing write_work to call proto->dequeue with a NULL private pointer. The flaw requires local low-privileged access and a TTY write wakeup during the narrow initialization window; successful triggering interrupts the affected host.
