Authenticated attachment deletion and rename via missing authorization
Published Feb 14, 2026 · Updated Feb 14, 2026
Missing authorization in Media Library Folders 8.3.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete or rename others' attachments. The delete_maxgalleria_media() and maxgalleria_rename_image() handlers trust user-controlled attachment IDs without verifying object ownership; renaming also erases all target postmeta. Author-level access and a valid plugin request are sufficient, exposing administrators' media to deletion, renaming, and metadata loss.
