System hang via invalid separate VPU reset
Published Feb 14, 2026 · Updated Feb 14, 2026
Improper reset handling in the imx8mq VPUMIX power-domain driver allows local attackers to hang affected Linux Kernel systems. The imx8mq_vpu_blk_ctl_domain_data structure wrongly assigns separate reset and clock masks to G1 and G2 despite a shared, ungated ADB reset with the VPU blocks. Exploitation requires an imx8mq system exercising VPU power-domain transitions and produces an availability-only hang without data access or modification.
