CVE-2026-23078

Kernel memory corruption via mis-sized endianness conversion

Published Feb 4, 2026 · Updated Feb 4, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel ALSA scarlett2 driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory during config retrieval. scarlett2_usb_get_config checks the total buffer size for equality with two, then iterates count times as 16-bit elements, accessing twice the allocated bytes when count exceeds one. Low-privileged local access and a supported Focusrite Scarlett USB interface exercising config retrieval are required; the record establishes memory corruption but not code execution.
