CVE-2026-23073

Local kernel crash via undersized driver-private allocation

Published Feb 4, 2026 · Updated Feb 4, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in the RSI911x Wi-Fi driver in Linux Kernel allows local users to crash the kernel by cycling an RSI911x interface. The driver leaves vif_data_size unset but treats ieee80211_vif.drv_priv as an allocated struct vif_priv, so rsi_mac80211_add_interface() writes vap_id beyond the object and corrupts adjacent flow-list state. Reachability requires the RSI911x driver and permission to bring its wireless interface up and down; the demonstrated consequence is a kernel crash.
