CVE-2026-23072

Local service interruption via L2TP session reference leak

Published Feb 4, 2026 · Updated Feb 4, 2026

Memory leak in Linux Kernel 6.10 through 6.19-rc6 allows local users to interrupt service through malformed L2TP packets. The l2tp_udp_encap_recv() error path rejects an invalid protocol version without calling l2tp_session_put(), retaining references to the session, tunnel, and socket. Low-privileged local access is required, and repeated triggering consumes kernel memory without any reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
