CVE-2026-23023

Local service interruption via leaked vport memory

Published Jan 31, 2026 · Updated Jan 31, 2026

A memory leak in the Linux kernel idpf driver allows local users to exhaust kernel memory by repeatedly resetting an affected vport. The idpf_vport_rel() teardown path omits freeing vport->rx_ptype_lkup, orphaning the allocation created by idpf_send_get_rx_ptype_msg() during each reset. The path requires local low-privileged access and an active idpf vport; repeated resets consume kernel memory until service interruption.
