CVE-2026-23013

Local kernel crash via mismatched IRQ cleanup

Published Jan 25, 2026 · Updated Jan 25, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux Kernel octeon_ep_vf driver allows local users to crash the system when MSI-X IRQ setup fails. The octep_vf_request_irqs() rollback passes oct rather than the ioq_vector dev_id used by request_irq(), leaving an IRQ handler registered after its vector is freed. Reaching the flaw requires local privileges and a partial MSI-X queue IRQ allocation failure; a later interrupt can access freed memory and crash the host.
