Subscriber-level data destruction via unchecked AJAX action
Published Feb 19, 2026 · Updated Feb 19, 2026
Missing authorization in Webangon's News Element 1.0.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete WordPress site data. The ne_clean_data AJAX handler omits capability and nonce checks before truncating eight core database tables and recursively deleting the uploads directory. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and successful exploitation removes posts, comments, taxonomy and metadata alongside uploaded media.
