CVE-2026-22816Network attack vector

Malicious artifact injection via nonfatal repository errors

Published Jan 16, 2026 · Updated Jan 16, 2026

Dependency resolution in Gradle Build Tool before 8.14.4 and 9.0.0 through 9.2.1 allows remote attackers to supply malicious artifacts. ConnectionFailureRepositoryDisabler treated an UnknownHostException after exhausted retries as nonfatal, so resolution continued to later repositories. Exploitation requires an earlier configured repository with an unresolvable, attacker-registerable host and no strict content filtering or dependency verification.
