Pre-auth command execution via JPEG2000 heap overflow
Published Feb 2, 2026 · Updated Feb 2, 2026
Remote code execution in vLLM 0.8.3 through 0.14.0 allows remote attackers to run system commands via a malicious video URL. The multimodal loader fetches attacker-controlled video bytes, and OpenCV/FFmpeg honors a JPEG2000 cdef remap that writes the full-resolution Y plane into the smaller U-plane buffer; a PIL error also returns a BytesIO heap address that defeats ASLR. The default unauthenticated server is exposed only when it serves a video model, and the invocations route remains pre-authentication when an API key is configured.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
