User impersonation via regex-parsed certificate subject
Published Apr 22, 2026 · Updated Apr 22, 2026
Authentication bypass in Spring Security 7.0.0 through 7.0.4 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate another user via X.509. The extractor applies a CN-matching regular expression to the serialized subject DN, so embedded DN text inside another RDN can be mistaken for the username. Exploitation requires X.509 pre-authentication and a crafted certificate already accepted by a compromised trusted upstream; the result is account impersonation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
