CVE-2026-22695Public exploit

Information disclosure and crash via oversized row copy

Published Jan 12, 2026 · Updated Jan 12, 2026

Heap over-read in libpng 1.6.51 through 1.6.53 allows attackers to disclose heap data or crash applications via crafted PNGs. In png_image_read_direct_scaled, memcpy uses the caller-supplied row stride as its copy length although local_row is allocated only for the decoded row width. Exploitation requires an application to process an untrusted interlaced 16-bit PNG through the simplified API with 8-bit output and a padded or negative stride; default-stride callers are unaffected.
