Authenticated file read via unvalidated imported workspace
Published May 13, 2026 · Updated May 13, 2026
Path traversal in Hermes WebUI before 0.51.44 allows remote authenticated users to read process-accessible files through session import. _handle_session_import() passes the request-controlled workspace directly into Session without resolve_trusted_workspace(), so file routes resolve relative paths from a blocked root. Authenticated access is required when password protection is enabled; reads are limited to files accessible to the WebUI process.
