CVE-2026-22603Network attack vector

Account compromise via unthrottled password-change attempts

Published Jan 10, 2026 · Updated Jan 10, 2026

Brute-force exposure in OpenProject before 16.6.2 allows remote attackers to compromise accounts through the password-change endpoint. The change_password_flow logic checks submitted current passwords without recording failed attempts or enforcing the login lockout threshold. Reachability is unauthenticated, but exploitation requires a known or enumerable user ID and a correct password guess; success grants the targeted user's access.
