CVE-2026-22601Network attack vector

Administrator command execution via sendmail path injection

Published Jan 10, 2026 · Updated Jan 10, 2026

Command injection in OpenProject 16.6.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute Linux commands. The email settings handler passes the configured sendmail path and email addresses to a Linux shell without neutralizing command separators. Exploitation requires an administrative account and occurs when a test email triggers the tainted command, granting operating-system execution beyond application privileges.
