Interpreter crash via unchecked negative tile index
Published Feb 10, 2026 · Updated Feb 10, 2026
Memory corruption in Lobster 2025.4 and earlier allows local users to crash the interpreter with a crafted tile map. WaveFunctionCollapse reads each tile byte as a signed character and uses negative values to index tile_lookup without first enforcing the documented 0..127 range. Exploitation requires local execution of a Lobster program that invokes wave_function_collapse; the published reproducer triggers an out-of-bounds read and process termination under AddressSanitizer.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
