Host command execution via Shell denylist bypass
Published Mar 2, 2026 · Updated Mar 2, 2026
Command injection in ModelScope MS-Agent 1.6.0rc1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute OS commands via crafted prompt-derived input. The Shell tool's check_safe() method applies a bypassable regex denylist before passing accepted text to subprocess.run() with shell parsing enabled. Exploitation requires the agent to ingest attacker-controlled prompts, documents, logs, or research content, and commands run with the MS-Agent process's privileges.
