Code execution via stalled channel-splitting offset
Published May 20, 2026 · Updated May 20, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in MediaArea MediaInfoLib 26.01 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted RIFF audio file. File_ChannelSplitting::Read_Buffer_Continue fails to advance Buffer_Offset for 20-bit samples and writes through an unchecked output index until heap memory is corrupted. Triggering requires a user or consuming application to process a RIFF stream with more than two channels and a 48 kHz sample rate.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
