Workspace data exfiltration via external Markdown images
Published Jun 18, 2026 · Updated Jun 18, 2026
Information disclosure in Eclipse Theia before 1.71.0 allows attackers to exfiltrate workspace data through AI chat responses. The AI chat Markdown renderer loads model-emitted image URLs without restricting external destinations, allowing sensitive workspace or conversation data to be encoded in requests. Exploitation requires prompt injection from a malicious workspace and active AI chat interaction; the documented consequence is confidentiality loss.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
