Service interruption via unbounded DCERPC stub buffering
Published Jan 27, 2026 · Updated Jan 27, 2026
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Suricata before 7.0.14 and 8.0.0 through 8.0.2 allows remote attackers to terminate the process. The DCERPC parser appends attacker-controlled request and response fragments to stub-data arrays without enforcing an upper bound. Crafted DCERPC/UDP traffic reaches the parser by default; TCP has a default 1 MiB stream-depth limit, while SMB buffering is unlimited.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
