Stored XSS via unescaped directory entry names
Published Jan 8, 2026 · Updated Jan 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Salvo before 0.88.1 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a visitor's browser through a crafted uploaded filename. The list_html function interpolates file and folder names into directory-listing links without HTML attribute or text escaping. Exploitation requires an application that enables StaticDir automatic listings, accepts attacker-controlled filenames, and has a user view the resulting listing; script effects are bounded by the site's CSP and the victim's session.
