Authenticated arbitrary file write via ZIP traversal
Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026
Path traversal in Docmost 0.21.0 through 0.23.2 allows remote authenticated users to write files via a crafted ZIP import. The ZIP extractor strips leading slashes but joins each unvalidated entry name to its target, so ../ segments resolve and write outside the import directory. Any low-privileged user with ZIP import access can create or overwrite files as the Docmost process, causing a service crash or enabling code execution.
