Authenticated relationship disclosure via unscoped event lookup
Published Jan 8, 2026 · Updated Jan 8, 2026
Authorization bypass in Mastodon's severed-relationship downloads allows remote authenticated users to read other users' lost follows. SeveredRelationshipsController resolves an attacker-supplied event ID with an unscoped find instead of filtering events to current_account. Any registered local account can enumerate events and download CSV lists of lost followers and followed accounts, but the response omits the affected account's name.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
