CVE-2026-22244Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Admin-level code execution via unsandboxed FreeMarker templates

Published Jan 8, 2026 · Updated Jan 8, 2026

Server-side template injection in OpenMetadata before 1.11.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through email templates. DefaultTemplateProvider.getTemplate reads administrator-controlled template text from the document repository and gives it to FreeMarker without disabling class construction or reflective API access. Administrative access is required to modify a stored template, and rendering the template executes commands as the OpenMetadata server process.
