CVE-2026-22212Public exploit

Utility crash via unbounded device-path concatenation

Published Jan 12, 2026 · Updated Jan 12, 2026

Stack-based buffer overflow in TinyOS mcp2200gpio 2.1.2 and earlier allows local users to crash the utility via a crafted filename. Automatic /dev/usb discovery appends dir->d_name to a 255-byte stack buffer with unbounded strcpy() and strcat() calls. Creating the filename requires local filesystem privileges; confirmed impact is process memory corruption and a crash, while code execution is reported only for non-hardened builds.
