CVE-2026-22186Public exploit

Local file disclosure and SSRF via external entities

Published Jan 7, 2026 · Updated Jan 7, 2026

XXE in Bio-Formats 8.4.0 and earlier allows attackers to read local files or issue outbound requests through crafted Leica metadata. The Leica LMSXmlDocument parser creates a DocumentBuilderFactory without disabling external entity resolution or external DTD loading. Exploitation requires a user or application to parse an attacker-supplied Leica XML metadata file, which can disclose readable local data, issue SSRF requests, or interrupt parsing through entity expansion.
