CVE-2026-22185

One-byte buffer under-read via offset underflow

Published Jan 7, 2026 · Updated Jan 7, 2026

Heap buffer under-read in LMDB mdb_load 0.9.14 and earlier allows local users to trigger an invalid read via a crafted dump file. The readline() function decrements an unsigned offset for a line containing a space followed by an embedded NUL, reading one byte before the heap buffer. OpenLDAP disputes security impact because standard supported builds reject the malformed input with an error, while only sanitizer or diagnostic builds fault.
